A Collaborative Performance Response to the Willard Suitcase Exhibit

Tuesday, February 8th, 3.30pm

Venue: Meany 267

Course: Dance 266, Composition 2

Students from the Composition 2 course respond to the exhibition in the context of a performance integrating, movement, text and sound. The students are asked to experience the exhibition, research Willard and identify shared and universal concepts it addresses, which they develop into movement concepts. Pushing their personal perspective they are ultimately asked to come up with a joint staging for this public event.

The event consists of a short performance followed by a discussion.

The event is hosted in the Dance Program, Meany Hall, studio 267.

NOTE: Construction on 15th Ave NE

The City of Seattle has started a project to reconstruct 15th Ave NE. Scheduled for Jan. - June 2011, the project may result in significant traffic impacts for those trying to access the UW campus, especially for those trying to park in the Central Plaza Garage (under Red Square). We suggest planning additional time to arrive at your UW destination, whether by car or public transportation. Location, Parking and Directions

Odegaard Undergraduate Library is located on UW's Seattle campus. Evening event parking is available in the Central Plaza Garage below Kane Hall at $10; additional paid parking is available in several west campus lots (W6, W12, W14) for where cash-only pay stations are available. Parking in these lots is $5 (dollar bills or dollar coins only).
Driving Directions:

(Special directions to account for construction on 15th Ave NE.) From I-5, take the NE 45th Street exit (#169). Turn east onto NE 45th Street. Continue east about one quarter mile to Brooklyn Avenue NE and turn right. Head south on Brooklyn Avenue three blocks to NE 41st Street. Turn left on 41st Street and head east two blocks to Gate #1 into the Central Plaza Garage. Stop at the gatehouse inside the garage for directions and a parking permit.
